What causes orange staining in my water?
Orange or rust-colored staining is caused by dissolved ferrous iron oxidizing when it hits air — turning into insoluble ferric iron (rust). It stains anything the water touches.
Does a water softener fix iron problems?
A standard water softener can remove small amounts of dissolved iron (under 1–2 mg/L), but it's not designed for iron removal. For higher iron levels, a dedicated iron removal system is the right tool.
Will this fix my laundry staining too?
